New book helps sell subscriptions

BY PAUL MAILHOT
At the end of the third week of the campaign to sell the book Malcolm X, Black Liberation, and the Road to Workers Power, by Jack Barnes, with subscriptions to the Militant, the drive is nearly on schedule. Some 719 subscriptions have been sold out of the international goal of 2,000. At the same time, 735 books have also been sold.

Supporters of the Militant are finding the political discussion with workers and students about the working-class leadership of Malcolm X, and the fight for Black liberation and workers power, is spurring sales of subscriptions.

“We are starting now to get the book into the hands of workers and students in the Boston area,” wrote Kevin Dwire. “We sold one to a coworker at the UNITE union local meeting, and several more were sold at street tables on campuses and in working-class neighborhoods around the city.”

“Perry, a worker at a food distribution warehouse in Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, recently bought the book from me,” wrote a volunteer in New York City. “He said, ‘I like what Barnes has to say, and I am really into the articles in the Militant about strikes around the world. I really enjoy the paper.’”

Readers of the Militant are encouraged to join the campaign, and let us know how you are doing.
