MINNEAPOLIS, February 16Many drivers honked in support as 200 people marched along East Lake Street here today protesting recent attacks against undocumented immigrant workers. Last month Minnesota governor Timothy Pawlenty issued an executive order allowing law enforcement officers to work with the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and ordering the review of drivers licenses to look for duplicates. Pawlenty also reintroduced bills proposing the prohibition of local sanctuary ordinances and increasing penalties for those who used false IDs.
