Criminal for sure—"The Los Angeles County Jail system lacks enough doctors, nurses and other medical workers to meet the most basic needs of inmates, resulting in long delays in treatment for conditions ranging from hernias to heart disease."—news report.

Give and take medicine swindle—A study found that medical researchers who check new drug products in hospitals and medical schools have ties, financially, with the manufacturers.

Judges went out running?—A federal appeals court struck down a Bush administration survey to reduce smog. The court countered that half of the U.S. population suffers from smog, mostly those with asthma and other respiratory difficulties.
