More than 200 coal miners, family members, and supporters attended a Miners Memorial Service September 23 to honor the 13 miners killed on that date four years ago in an explosion at the Jim Walters Resources #5 mine in Brookwood, Alabama. The meeting took place next to a monument erected in memory of the workers by the mine. Portraits of each of the deceased miners were displayed.
